Plant Disease Diagnostics

In recent years, the diseases caused by various bacterial, viral and fungal pathogens have become widespread among vegetable crops in Armenia, which cause great damage to the cultivated areas, causing a decrease in economic and biological valuable properties of local varieties and degenerative changes of varietal characteristics, causing significant decrease in crops productivity.

In order to contribute to the solution of the above-mentioned problem, in the Laboratory of phytopathology of the Scientific Center, accurate diagnosis of bacterial and fungal diseases of vegetable crops is carried out using the modern molecular biology method - PCR (polymerase chain reaction) in real time (PCR - Real time). A number of diseases are diagnosed, including bacterial cancer (Clavibacter michiganensis), late blight (Phytophthora infestans), fusarium wilt (Fusarium oxysporum), verticillium wilt (Verticillium dahlia), alternariosis (Alternaria alternate), etc.
