Department of Breeding, Seed Production and Cultivation Technology of Protected Ground Crops

The Department of Breeding, Seed Production and Cultivation Technology of Protected Ground Crops for many years since its foundation was headed by Galust Aslanyan, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences. Since 2006, the Department was headed by Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor Gayane Sargsyan, under whose leadership many new varieties and hybrids of greenhouse crops were created, which are very popular among  consumers and are in great demand in the greenhouses of the Republic. Through the efforts of G. Sargsyan, the greenhouse facilities of the Scientific Center were re-equipped with the latest equipment for growing seedlings and seeds production.

Since 2022, the Department has been headed by a young researcher, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences Gohar Kirakosyan.

The protected ground department is engaged in breeding, seed production of greenhouse vegetable crops and in  development and introduction of new technologies for their cultivation. As a result of such activities a number of high-quality seedlings obtained by scientifically developed and tested methods increases from year to year, while the range of agricultural crops is expanding. Seeds produced in a greenhouse are of high quality, uniformity and high germination.

Employees of the Department participate in conducting practical classes for students of specialized educational institutions, are involved in events to demonstrate new technologies.
