Application of Molecular Biology Methods and Information Technologies for Monitoring and Management of Vegetable Crop Diseases in Armenia

The project is funded by the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, Committee of Higher Education and Science, under the code 25RG-4B069

Within the framework of the program, a monitoring and control system for major vegetable crop diseases (tomato and sweet pepper) will be developed, based on molecular biology diagnostic methods and modern information technologies. For the diagnosis of viral, bacterial, and fungal diseases, the qPCR modern method will be applied. This will not only help identify the causal agent of the disease and accurately detect infections at early stages and latent (hidden) forms of diseases, but also reveal sources of spread (for example, through seeds, pests, etc.). The dynamics of disease development, their stages, and their impact on plant growth, yield, and fruit quality will be studied. Disease prevention and control measures will be developed. Within the scope of the project, a mobile application will also be developed, which will be accessible to users/farmers. The application will provide farmers with information on vegetable crop diseases.
